If you live in an area where storm surge would not be present a standard policy in combination with a windstorm policy may give you the coverage needed in a Hurricane. When rising waters would be a factor Flood policies would come into play. Did you know In Florida, 1.7 million government flood policies were in force as of Mid 2017. More Floridians own the policies than residents in any other state. Even so less that 20% of homes in the state are insured by a flood policy.
